Good news from the Center for Food Safety
Tilth received some exciting news from the Center for Food Safety.
A federal district court ruling forces the USDA to regulate genetically engineered (GE) crops, tree and grasses.
In 2020, the Trump administration used a loophole in the regulation of genetically modified organisms that eliminated almost all oversight of GE plants and animals, allowing corporations to self-regulate.
In 2021, the Center for Food Safety led a lawsuit suing the USDA to reverse the rollback. Victory in the lawsuit is good news for our environmental safety, but the plaintiffs are preparing to keep fighting in anticipation of pressure to deregulate during the new Trump administration.
