Building Community
Ask South Whidbey Tilth members what’s important about this group, and they will say camaraderie and inclusiveness.
Built from the love of growing and enjoying healthy plants,
we are a community of gardeners, farmers and consumers on South Whidbey Island who support good tilth–carbon-rich, living soil–as the foundation of a vibrant and biodiverse agriculture.
Tilth is a word from the Old English tilian, referring to the quality of cultivated soil and the cultivation of wisdom and the spirit.
Our Mission
South Whidbey Tilth Association is an educational association, the purpose of which is to support and promote biologically sound and socially equitable agriculture. We promote and demonstrate principles and practices of sustainable agriculture, as well as cultivate a variety of opportunities for local market gardeners and farmers.
